Green Tree
This company through unprofessionalism cost me $4000.00 American dollars!

In the early 1990's me and my future ex-husband made the mistake of going through Green Point Credit, which changed hands several times, I am assuming and is currently named "Green Tree."

After a divorce I was "stuck" with the trailer and since the trailer was on a less than desireable plot of land it was hard to get out from under either. However, I went with a "rent to own" with the trailer and had a individual that was somewhat new to town rent from me.

I returned back home to Canada and took my renter for granted as she made the payments, that is, up until May when the bank contacted me through my parents and told me that they were about to reposess the trailer. I was leaving town that day, so I had my dad run to town and wire close to a thousand dollars Canadian to the bank. Soon my renter learned that I was too reliable and failed to make more payments and so I made a verbal deal with the bank over the phone that I would make the payments and my renter would then pay me.

Anyway, off and on my renter missed payments; however, I paid religiously each month. I didn't ever receive a statement because the bank continued to send the statement to my renter and the statement still had my ex-husband's name as well as the renter on it.

So, after much procrastinaton, on June 9 I sent this bank a payment as well as proof of ownership and a letter explaining the name change since I went back to my maiden name as well as a phone number. I requested to find out how much money was owning on the trailer because I planned to pay it off. I did not have the number of the bank because the existing number I had no longer worked, so all I was asking of the bank was to leave a message with me so that I could call them and find out how much was owing.

They did deposit my money order for the month of June; however, they failed to contact me. So, I thought I would miss a payment (which I had never done) and that way they would be assured to contact me.By September of this year I assumed that my renter had amazingly pulled up her socks and had been making payments.

But, by late September I had a call from an individual wanting to buy the trailer from me for $2000.00. Then, the company called me telling me that they were going to reposess the trailer and that I would need to send them $769.64 after pointing out to the company that I requested to pay the trailer off in June and they failed to contact me they offered that I pay only $68.70 in order to keep the trailer from being reposessed! At this time the bank told me I owed a ball park figure of $8000. And threatened that bad credit would haunt me for years!

However, I had an individual I knew go to look at the trailer and he reported to me that with $10 000. The trailer would be liveable again. So, on October 16 I sent the bank a letter stating their unprofessionalism and the fact that I lost $4000.00 and asked that they no longer contact me or I would see to it that they would be haunted for years for their negative and neglectful actions!

On Nov 1 they called and left a message for me and when I refused to contact them they called and bothered my daughter on November 13 trying to locate my ex-husband. I am not fond of sticking up for my ex-husband, but the divorce decree that I copied for the bank and sent to them in June of this year clearly stated he was in no way legally responsible for this trailer.

In hindsight I wish I would have went with one of the local banks in Fort Stockton Texas.
