Business & Finance

In march I signed up for a 1 week free trial of a credit monitoring service called PrivacyMatters. I then
emailed them before the cancelation deadline to end the
membership. This particular account/debit card I used to signup with, I did not use again for 5 months. I left a few dollars in the acount to keep the account open.

On august 22 I deposited some money into this account to pay a phone bill and some other bills by phone. Within 2 hours of depositing money into this account a debit came through from"AP9*PRIVACYMATTERS" for 75.74. I immediately called them and after threatening to report them to the FTC, they told
me they would reverse the charges within 2 business days.
On august 24th (today) no reversal had occured. I called
them again. After waiting on hold for 30 mins I finaly gotthrough to a supervisor who told me that the reversal order was processed today.

Evidently they had been "fishing" the account for 5 months until I made a deposit. This Has to be illegal! Even if they do reverse the charges, my account is
now screwed up by this unauthorized transaction. I had to
demand from the supervisor that he give me the name of the corp they were owned by, this is when I found out they were part of Dealpass. That is what led me to this website. I hope there is an attorney out there that is willing to look intoa class action suit against these people and thier unethical and illegal practices.
