Business & Finance

My wife started receiving calls from this company on Tuesday July 11. This company asked for my wife under her maiden name and we tried to be as informative to them as we could we were shocked that this was a collection attempt for a CITIBANK credit card card my wife opened in 1987, believed closed in writing in 1989 and paid off through payments to CITIBANK.

Come to find out from TLF they wanted us to pay $2,100. The next day Wednesday July 12 it was $2,260. We were then told that the bill was declared delinquent in 1991. We were very skeptical and asked for written proof of such a large debt/bill. We then also contacted a lawyer. We received a bill from TrueLogic Financial dated July 12 on Monday July 17 stating the bill being $2,229.16.

Something seemed not quite right. True Logic had many inaccuracies

First of which is that in 1991 we married in October, they had us still living at an apartment that we moved into 2 years after marriage in 1993 and moved from in 1997we have currently lived at our present address since October 24,1997. Yet they had very little information that a collection agency should have if this were a valid debt. Matter of fact we are disputing this debt and feel this company may be breaking many federal laws. Have sent complaints to Colorado Attorney General/Collection Agnecy board and the Better Business Bureau.

We never received contact from Citibank of such a bill after 1991 the year this bill supposedly was declared Delinquent. I would suspect if this were a true bill, back then, let alone now, Citibank would have wanted payment long ago. Like somewhere in the 15-19 years that this bill supposedly existed. Also keep in mind:
