Vanderbilt Mortgage
Raised my payment for insurance policy i didnt need & damaged my credit! Ripoff

Business & Finance

I purchased my 2006 mobile home in 2005. Had no problems until Vanderbilt took over mortgage. I first was notified by them that I did not have sufficient insurance, which I did have and have had for over 10 years. I faxed over insurance policy and later was notified that I lived in a flood zone, which was decided by contractors that their insurance company contracted out. I did not live in a flood zone.

I contacted my local zoning comissioner and had provided proof that I was not in a flood zone. I faxed over flood determination document from the zoning comissioner as instructed by Vanderbilt. Now almost a year later, they started taking money from my payment and putting into an escrow account, causing my payment to be short every month.

I then began to received very nasty and harrassing collection calls. I inquired why they were putting my money into an escrow? I received a response that they had purchase a flood insurance policy on the home. The same month I purchased a flood insurance policy of my own. I faxed over proof that I have flood insurance and they gave the impression that everything would be ok.

Well, needless to say, I still received these very disturbing collection calls. They spoke to me in a manner that definitly was not necessary. When I tried to explain the matter, they acted as if I was the one who didnt know what I was doing. Well, I needed to take furthur action and maybe talk to someone on the higher up.

I contacted a supervisor and she told me that I would be receiving a refund for the escrow money and that It would clear up the shortages on my account. Well, a couple of weeks went by and needless to say NO CHECK. I contacted her again. This time they informed me that the policy in quesion was a policy they purchase a year PRIOR.

Well, I was almost ready to give in and pay for flood insurance until that point. I inquired about the documents that I had faxed over from the zoning comissioner showing that Im not even required to have this flood insurance. OF COURSE, they said they never received them. So, I had to start over again and go back to the zoning comissioner and request the flood determination once again and e-mailed it directly to the supervisor.

NOW, according to her I'm surposed to be getting a refund check and my account is all clear up, I still receive collection calls to this day and have seen NO REFUND CHECK. I have been working on this issue for almost a year now. They have reported to the credit bureaus that my payments are late. Which by the way havent been in 10 years. I refuse to pay a higher monthly payment due to an error on their part. I have been waiting for my refund check for 10 day as of today. I however have gotten an appology and promises to clear my name, credit and account. I will let you know how it goes.

Actions speak louder than words!
