Had life policy for $3000. They payed only $1000

I had a policy on my mother for several years for $3000. When she passed and I claimed they paid only $1000. The primiums were paid up to date.
They requested the policy before paying clame. So I have no proof of contract & policy. I sent them the policy as requested. I didn't think it right, I just reluctantly agreed to get my money.
