Who are they?

I have received a letter from this company that says they have purchased an account, that supposedly belongs to me, from "Holiday Spa of Calif/DA/WA". Well, I have a few of concerns:

1. Asset Acceptance referred to me by a married name that I have not used since 1989. (divorced and name was restored)

2. I don't know who Holiday Spa of Calif/DA/WA is. When I type it into the internet, it comes up as Best Western Holiday Spa Hotel in Bishop. And I've never been there.

3. I typed in Asset Acceptance LLC online, and many complaints are coming up, along with conversations about Bally's.in the 80's I was a member of Bally's for a couple of years, but I did not leave an outstanding debt.

4. I maintain a membership with "TrueCredit", a good credit rating, and there is nothing on it like this letter. I work and maintain good credit.

Can a company like this come out of nowhere and accuse me of owing a bill that may be over 15 years old? (It has to be something from the 1980's because they are calling my 1980's name.) What is the time limit on this kind of activity?
