Being ProActive, does not work for this company, Ripoff

January, my husband was laid off from his job, due to downsizing by his company.in Feb. our loan was sold to ASC, with the first payment to begin March 1. The first week of March I contacted ASC Customer Service, informing them of our situation and asked with assistance in either deferring 2-3 months of loan payments or reducing our current loan payment by half, until my husband was able to secure new employment.

I was trying to be 'Pro Active' with our situation to not only avoid any negative reporting on our credit report, but assist us with our financial situation. I received several different anwers, over a period of almost 2 months, that were unbelievable.

I was first told, there was nothing they could do for us, unless we were at least 2 months behind in our payments. I informed the Customer Service Rep, that is what we are trying to avoid.

I was then asked to fill out some paperwork, to see if we qualified for a repayment plan. I faxed the documents to the fax number given in their letter and waited 3 weeks. When I did not hear anything I called. I was told they did not receive my paperwork, as they sometimes have problems with that fax machine. They asked me to refax it to a different number, which I did.

When 2 weeks went by without a response, I contacted them again. I was informed that there was nothing they could do for me, as we have less money coming, than what is going out. We were in the negative.

Hello!!! That is why we contacted you, because we do not have my husband's income coming in, as he was laid off. Off course we have a negative. If we had enough money to make our payments, I would never have contacted ASC for help.

I do not understand this mentality!!!
