Full $1,488.95 Payment Posted Late, $175.67 Finance Charges

I made a full payment of $1,488.95 on June 23, four days before my contract for 6 months no pay/same-as-cash expired on June 27.

The payment was received on 06/30/01, but it wasn't posted until July 1. Deferred finance charges of $175.67 were applied to the account at a daily periodic rate of 0.06299%.

I disputed the charges on 07/31/02, stating that it did not take 7 to 10 days for first-class mail to be delivered and that it only took 2 to 3 days. The payment was posted on 06/29/01. I spoke to a representative and sent a fax saying I wasn't satisfied with their decision.

I spoke several times over the phone with the Vice President at Temple, AZ, about removing the finance charges. I was told to submit a document to support my dispute.

I received a document from the Consumer Affairs & Claim, U.S. Postal Services, Oakland, CA. I faxed a copy to the VP and one to the attention of the Dispute Dept. $29.00 was adjusted.

I then received a letter referring me to Wilmington, Delaware, to send any additional new documents. Now I am being threatened with a collection agency or with contacting an attorney in my area.
