Free credit check site asks for card number after five forms

So I see these commercials about a free credit check online. It's one of those annoying ripoff sites that let you fill out five forms before it asks for a credit card even though it is supposed to be free. If I am checking my credit score cause I screwed up with credit cards why am I going to have one to enter into their gimmick. To check someones credit does not take a credit card. These guys are obvious cons.
