Ripoff cash deposits and checks always take to long to clea

I recently had an account with M&T bank and I am very disatisfied with there service. I went to make a cash deposit at the tellers bench and for my own records I asked when will this deposit be available.
The teller told me not until midnight and it was deposited at like 9am. That is insane to wait that long for a deposit to clear that long. I understand that it does sometime to clear although I think it gives the bank time to bounce checks or create over draft fees.
They are always quick to charge you twice for a check that bounces even if it is only ran through the systems once.
My account is closed and I am happy.
