Fraudulent Credit Card Processing Terminal for Businesses

Business & Finance

In 2003 I was contacted by a sells rep for Lease Financial. I was sold a credit card terminal for my tax business through a lease program with Lease Finance Group. I received the terminal and was charged monthly fees for processing credit cards. Everything was going fine until the terminal began to generate errors and I was no longer able to process credit card transactions although Lease Financial continued to draft my account monthly.

I called Lease Financial to report this problem and I was told to contact my sale's rep. The original number I had for the sales rep was a voice message. I left several messages with no response. This process continued until I had to postpone my efforts on account of my business tax season.

In 2004 since the terminal was not working I cancelled the monthly drafts with my bank. Lease Financial began sending me statements for payments in which I would continue to pay as I was promised the situation would be resolved.

Again the need arose for me to process credit cards so I resumed my efforts to have the problem fixed. Lease Financial told me I needed to call my sale's rep. I was given a different contact number with the same results. I then told them I can no longer pay for a terminal that does not work and I was sending the equipment back. I was told I can not cancel the contract since it is noncancellable. I asked why should I keep paying for equipment and services that have not been working for over a year.

Needless to say the terminal was returned along with a certified letter stating why it was being returned. I asked for someone to contact me to resolve this matter and I would be willing to resume my payments. Lease Financial told me if I brought the account up to date they would send me a new unit. I asked why didn't they do that from the very beginning. I asked for a letter to that effect and I would pay the past due balance. I was told they can not give me a letter but demanded I bring the account current first. I said I would not and I was told they would ruin my credit.

I am very displeased with the way I have been treated by this company and being held hostage to pay for something that does not work. Lease Financial has poor business ethics and in my opinion is a predatory company to use sale's rep to solicit business for terminals while refusing to back up business written and resolve problems equipment issues with their customers.
