Ripoff - foreclosed while refinancing. Scammed us out of our house Everywhere

This a very long story, and I will keep it short. It took me two lawyers to find one that would even believe me as to what happened.

We were contacted about refinancing our mortgage with Chase for a lower rate. The mail came from Chase. We sent in the paper work and waited almost a year to have our request processed. The whole time we were promised that the rate promised was the rate we would get.

Finally they said the paperwork would be overnighted the next day. Our mortgage payment was due that same day, and we were told not to pay it. We were told it would mess up the numbers.

It didn't come. We called. It will come they said. That department, we were told, worked at its own rate. There said they were overwhelmed with the number of people who had responded to the offer. One month passed. Two months passed. We called each day and were told it was coming. Three months passed. I called in a panic because we still had not made a mortgage payment. They told me our account was on hold, just waiting for the paperwork. They said we were fine. This was normal. We never received a mortgage bill the entire time this was going on. Four months passed. I began calling two and three times a week. I asked for a letter that said we were ok, and not in trouble because we had not made a payment. They told me we were fine. They said they would send a letter and that they actually had a form letter for this purpose. They never did.

Finally, we got a hold of a supervisor who told us there were about a dozen people in our situation. He was going to bat for us and going to meet with the people who could fix this, but that morning his wife was killed in a automobile accident, and he never returned. His secretary tried to help us, but we just got the run around. This was the day the rates went from 5%, but I do not have his name.

How did this end? We were kicked out of our house at gun point. NEVER did we receive a letter from Chase about them planning to foreclose! We had put the money each month in the bank. We could have paid had they come to us. We were given five hours to get what we wanted from the house and then were told never to come on the property again.in this time we had done home improvements we are still paying on.

Who bought the house? Chase bought it from themselves for more than we owed and then resold it for 45 thousand more than we owed.

I have no proof of my calls as 800 numbers do not show up on phone bills. My lawyer says Chase would have to admit their error in order to get any of the money back. I don't see that happening.

This has wrecked my otherwise good credit.interesting that in the time I was supposedly not paying my mortgage, no other account payments were late or missed. If I was going to lose my house, don't you think I would have skipped a Sears payment or two?

This has been a nightmare. I have since read that this scam does happen more than you think.

I know this all makes me sound naive or stupid. Maybe I was naive, but this was a scam and should be illegal.

I have not used my correct last name, as I do not want Chase to hurt me more than they already have.
