Sounds shady, would like to get out, ripoff

I fell for the aspire visa pre aproved card. They gave me a 300.00 limit but over half of that is fees. When I attempted to call to activate the card, the automated system did not recognize my information and there was not an option to get a live rep.

I have not yet activated this card and want to cancel but after reading about the company and their practices I'm afraid I've been trapped. How can I find out about canceling and if I do do I still have to pay them 179.00 in fees?

I have damaged credit and I don't want to make it worse, however I do not think it is right to pay 179.00 for something I do not intend to use. I would appreciate any help I can get with this matter.
