Several years ago Aspire Visa called my home with a credit card offer that I declined. The representative would not take "no" for an answer and so I hung up on him. About a week later I received an Aspire Visa credit card in the mail. My name was imprinted across the front along with an "activation strip" that contained a number to call to activate the card. I cut up the card and never called to activate it.
About two weeks later a telemarketer called my home and was offering some product. I declined to purchase the product and was about to hang up when I heard to telemarketer mention charging it to "my" Aspire Visa! I firmly told this individual that I did not want thier product and I certainlly did not want it charged to a credit card that I did not request or activate! I told this person that they were not to call my home again.
End of story... So I thought. Not... After applying for a loan which required a copy of my credit report I was shocked to learn that Aspire Visa was listed as a creditor! The status of my account was seriously past due and charges off. Aspire Visa claimed that I owed them $210.00! All this on a credit card that I did not solicit, activate or use!
I have written to all three credit major reporting companies and Aspire Visa to no avail thus far. Aspire Visa is a bunch of thieves. I can't imagine that this is legal!
