I needed to re-finance my first Ameriquest mortgage. They added $30,000 to the loan, then quickly sold it to Merrill Lynch. Ripoff

Rates were low so I wanted to re-finace my Ameriquest loan. When I called them about it, a young man was my first contact there. I wanted to lower my payments with a variable rate loan, and was told Ameriquest did not do them. A lady manager there took charge of my request and said she could do it.

Within 2 weeks a notary called and came out after dark to sign the papers. The stack of papers was at least 1 inch thick. She was in a hurry and my wife and I were rushed through the signing. I questioned the amount when I noticed the loan went up by $30,000. The notary said to call them the next day and I did. The manager said the money would be used to get the new loan down to an affordable payment. The loan papers have 15262.90 in settlement charges to Ameriquest.

In reality, $20,000 disappeared and I am stuck with the debt with no benefit to me.
