Credit Selection Board - Cross Country Bank
Ripoff deceptive offer to obtain personal information Wilmington Deleware

Business & Finance

Received a letter offering pre-selected "Clearly Superior Visa Card" regardless of past credit history. Offer came with web address to "activate" the application. After entering the activation number, confirmed name, address, city, state, phone number and SSN. I knew the interest rate was high, that the one-time "Account Origination Fee" of $100 and "Annual Fee" of $50 per year are high. I needed to rebuild my credit so I applied. Only after I supposedly "was accepted" did I get redirected to the Cross Country Bank web site.

Today I wanted to check the status of the card and after entering the required information on the Cross Country Bank web site received the response that "no application was received". My thought here is that the MAILED offer was simply a means to obtain personal information for whatever purpose. I'm just very happy that I was not asked for banking information as I most likely would have given TOO much information in the application and might be looking at an empty bank account. This letter appears to be a scam or phishing letter and should be avoided.
