Ripoff Fradulent Billing

In november, my husband received a note saying he had a payoff with AT&T. He called the company and set up payment options.
He paid his first of two payments, and then we received a note from NCO stating what the acct payoff was. It included the first payment that we had made to the ORIGINAL company. They looked into the payment and fixed this.
Then they told my husband that they would be charging the same bank account as the last payment to pay off the account. He informed them that he did not have his permission, and not to charge that account.
He gave them his credit card number to pay off the account, and they gave him a confirmation number (which we misplaced). Then a week later, we received a notice from the bank stating that our checking account was overcharged. We called the company and they admitted they charged my husband's credit card and would fix this problem. I faxed them the information, and never heard back from them.
I called them again since the account still hadn't be credited. This time they were rude and threatening, telling me they wouldn't pay back the money they took out of his account without permission, and if I filed fradulent paperwork, they would report this to my credit agency as an unpaid account.
We filed the fraudulent paperwork with the bank anyway to cry to correct the severe dent it put into our account. Then three days ago, we got a notice in the mail stating the following:
"Your check has not been honored by your bank. Replacement funds for the total amount is expected. Your account may be accruing interest or other collection charges as allowed by law. For an exact payment quote please contact at the number listed above."
They refused to accept the fact that they did charge my husband's credit card, cause there was a charge on his card for the remaining blanace, but it was credited back the same day.
