The Whittier News ripoff on billing for subscription fraud on both companies

I received a collection notice on The Whittier Daily News for $47.00. I attempted to call North Shore Agency, Inc directly with the number -Ext-37135 to contact them via phone. But of course, it was a recording giving me instructions to file my claim via mail or to pay for the bill.

I wanted the matter taken care of today, so I contacted The Whittier Daily News directly. The customer service representative I spoke with gave me a hard time and insisted that I subscribed to the newspaper back in June paid with Cash to some little kid going door to door. She also advised that they send out 5 notices which I never received befor they turn it in to the collection agency.

I advised the Customer Service that there is no way I would subscribe to a news paper first of all because I don't read the news paper and if I did make any type of subscription, it would be made with a check so I would be able to track it and that I never received any of their invoices.

After arguing with her for about 5 minutes, I finally requested for her supervisor. I told the supervisor exactly what I told the customer rep. And right away, the supervisor apologies and said she will take care of it and take the account off their system.

I would definately take legal action if either of the companies came up on my credit report. And I will follow up with The Whittier Daily News to make sure they did what they promised.

As far as I'm concerned, both The Whittier Daily News and North Shore Agency, Inc. Have conducted poor business ethics and consumer should watch out for both companies.
