Ripoff Refusal to Pay Notaries Investigation

Notary America / (aka) Southwest Notary of Tucson is refusing to pay notaries, using any number of "creative" excuses/lies. I myself have only lost $75 as my system put them on "hold" for further signings after their payment (from 6/25) went overdue. I have made this collection problem a "special project" as other notaries have lost hundreds and in some cases, thousands of dollars to what can only be termed a "deadbeat" enterprise intent on collecting money, but not paying the people who have done work for them.

Update for 11/24/04 - Went to Notary America's office - blinds closed and a piece of paper stuck to the door indicated that Suite #107 was Notary America's office. Knocking on the door, Lisa Schreiber (real name: ELIZABETH ANN SCHREIBER) answered and asked to know what I wanted. I told her, and she said (this time) that there was a "challenge" in at the bank and checks would be going out. I told her that was garbage and advised her that I was going to the Better Business Bureau, the Arizona Secretary of State and the Attorney General, filing complaints at each one. At this time she referred me to her lawyer, Sidney Kohn of Tucson, and promptly asked me to leave the office (which looked like a dump)- papers everywhere. I left and called her "lawyer" and left a message. The lawyer's secretary returned my call and stated he does not work for "Lisa" Schreiber and that he is a real estate attorney, not a litigator. They are sending "Lisa" a letter to cease and desist from using Mr. Kohn's name - he is NOT her attorney. Went to Better Business Bureau in Tucson and met with Tim Johnson, gave him the details of my visit and paperwork I have developed from the Tucson business licensing board, The Arizona Corporation Commission, plus copies of invoices. Note:&.you may send your complaints and invoice copies to better business bureau of tucson, 432 south williams street, tucson, arizona 85711 (520) 888-5353. Mr. Johnson indicates that the avalanche is building! More complaints will yield more action! Inasmuch as Notary America and Southwest Notary are linked, and they hold a notary license (a public trust issue is involved) and the Arizona Secretary of State is interested. Send your letters of complaint, outlining the problem, to: ARIZONA SECRETARY OF STATE, 400 W. Congress street, 2nd floor, room 252, tucson, az 85701. The complaints will be reviewed and forwarded to the Arizona Attorney General for investigation / prosecution (if the charges are proven). YOU have to keep the pressure on in order to bring this criminal enterprise to a halt and recoup your money. As I develop more information on this deadbeat company you can read it here
