Harassing phone calls threating with wage garnishment Ripoff Horsham

NCO began calling my work in june. At first they had my name and adress wrong. They went on to calling me two or three times a day to get full payment of a student loan I had recieved 14 years ago.

After listening to their threats for about a week I went to a lawyer to find out what i should do. Sshe called them up and their attitude changed. Before the lawyer spoke to them, NCO wanted full payment, then it was $500 down and so much a month, and then it was finally $177.00 per month for one year. Then my credit bureau would be cleared of this debt.

But the truth of the matter is, the debt is not on my credit report. After several conversations about withdrawal from my bank account. Still nothing happened.

I was lucky! No money was taken from the account. Although one of the representatives of NCO told me that they had received two payments and gave me the dates of the payments. This company is busy trying to "bull" and "'bully" that they actually are not able to keep up with what accounts they have settled and which they have not. I know that 14 years ago I did borrow money for a student loan.

I need to know now what to do to get away from NCO, but still yet try to pay the debt to the company that is due. The last phone call I received was about a week ago and when I mentioned the "consumer complaints" they hung up on me. But a different rep. Has called since then and threated the wage garnishment. Can they do this?
Also, I continue to receive numerous letters from NCO, at least one a week.
