National Billing Company of New York
Things promised where not what they seemed to be

Business & Finance

National Billing Company started out with a contract with us which was renewable every 90 days and we were promised 2.99 per claim submitted to the insurance companies. NBC was to submit medical billing by electronic means for a small private practice. My first account manager, Gail, was very eager to help and helped us unravel several different issues with the insurance company. My second account manager, Anthony, appeared to be working with us until I asked him to research some EOB. He then tried to tell us that our contract was up (it wasn't) and he needed to double the amount he was charging to submit the claims.

Upon checking the contract with our attorney, we noted that we were still in contract AND any change to the pricing had to be submitted in writing. After that, we questioned if Anthony was trustworthy and started looking for a local company. We found a local company and terminated services, as set forth in the contract.

Once the new billing company started looking at the claims that had been filed, it was noted that 9 of the 14 claims had to submitted with the wrong information and had to be submitted again by the new company. Now today, I receive a bill for the research that Anthony reportedly completed with a charge of 30.00.interestingly enough, this is the very first time that we even heard of this charge.

I'm going to pay the bill, but it is worth telling others not to get involved with this company; particularly if you are a small private practice just starting out. When I informed Anthony that we located a local company that would provide services that he could not for approximately the same price, he wanted to get belligerent and stated "I've tried to be a gentleman about this." Uh, not really. He was trying to twist the contract around and if he had not been so sneaky, we probably would have worked with him. But learning that he deliberately messed up over half the claims, well, I don't think that NBC is anymore than a "bait and switch" operation.
