Fraud on credit card!

I called for a free product sample and was greeted by a very nice man who took my credit card number and I authorize $4.99 to ship a free sample of product. I never EVER authorized this company to charge my credit card for product of any kind and have a reoccurring debit attachment to my checking account and have now cancelled my card so there will be no further charges on my card. However, when calling this company today, the woman I spoke with informed me that I authorized their company on line and failed to cancel within 18 days... I THINK THIS LADY MUST BE SMOKING CRACK! I never went on line I called on the phone and when the product wasn't delivered I called the number back and they resent a product which arrived in 3 days. There was never any mention of a monthly program or product and never any mention of a $74.98 charge to my account. This put me in serious financial status at christmas time and I have lost my job and could have used this money to buy my kids presents, food, or pay bills. Beware!!!
