This letter is to complain about service I recently received from a the optical center / customer service representative named older woman / light color hair.
I decided to bring my mother, who is seventy five years old to fill her eye glass prescription at the Cedartown Wal-Mart on May 29, on Friday afternoon. I explained to the sales associate upon entering the store why we were there. I handed her my mother’s prescription, so she could check on the computer for a ball park figure on what my mother could expect to pay. My mom had recently had surgery on her eyes, the sales associated was in the process of asking questions about the type of lens my mother had in her glasses. My mother reached into her handbag to offer a card where she had her surgery and before my mother said anything, the sale associate said “I don’t need that, we don’t except Medicaid here. That was the first rude thing she did. The next thing she did was quote my mother a price for the lenses of almost 300.00. I explained to her that mom lived on a fixed income and maybe we should check at Americas Best. We told her that is where mom normally bought her glasses. Well, then she came up with another price of around 150.00, and finally one of around 125.00. She explained that plastic lens were much cheaper than a glass lens. I was concerned if a glass lens would be best, it certainly was more expensive. No. She assure me, as a matter of fact most of the lenses they put into glasses are plastic. My question is, why was my mom offered the most expensive item when apparently it was not the best product? According to the sales associate! Needless to say, I was quite frustrated.
I expected a much higher level of service from your company, and I am quite disappointed. Because I do not want to spend any more time on this problem, I took my mother to Dr. Popham. I will be informing my friends and family about this experience.
Sincerely,
Kathy Coley
