My letter to Dish Network

I went to pay my bill today and was shocked to see my bill was $69.50. My first reaction was that this was a mistake and so I went online to check it out. That%u2019s when I noticed that the actual rate increased. I received nothing about this rate increase and I think it is outright criminal that you do this to your customers.

The customer service representative I talked to on the phone said I %u201Cshould have%u201D received something in the mail; I did not. For your customers on paperless billing (like myself,) would it really have been too hard to send an email?

When I first made the mistake of joining Dish, my bill was $39.11, not bad right? Six months goes by and it goes to $45.67. Another six months and it is $61.91, and then $63.00. I was getting upset at this point, it%u2019s not even like I had a great plan! And there I was, stuck in a contract for another year. I paid $63 a month for eight months and then out of nowhere, $69.50! That was like a slap in the face. That%u2019s over $30 more than when I started.

Outraged, I called Dish to cancel. The representative was polite and asked me why I was canceling. I told her I did not want to pay $70 a month. She offered me pay-per-view credits. Are you kidding me? What, 2 credits? I can go to Redbox and get 2 movies for less than $3 and your company believes that pay-per-view credit will make a customer stay? That bothered me. I told her that was a joke and that I still wanted to cancel.

The representative tells me that since I%u2019m still under contract there will be a cancellation fee. It was something like $52, which made me laugh. Oh well, that%u2019s a lot cheaper than the bill. She continues and begins to tell me about returning my rented equipment and tells me that if I use the label that you are sending I%u2019ll be charged $17. That has to be the pettiest thing I%u2019ve ever heard of. Must just be a %u201Cscrew you%u201D to your leaving customers.

Your company needs to take a look at what it is doing to its customers because this is just plain wrong. I am highly dissatisfied with my experience with Dish. I will not come back, I will not recommend you, and I will share my experience.
