I stayed at HJ Plaza hotel Portland on 09/01. Having prepaid my reservation through hotels.com - reputable website, I was surprised by the request of the clerk to make a COPY of my driver's license in addition to major credit card I gave him. I questioned the logic of it and had gotten the following response: "if you deny to the online reservation company that you stayed with us, we have proof". The absurd of it did not even register at once. As if hotels.com has my picture, or anybody really cares who stays there with or without me as long as the room is paid for - which it was. I can not possibly believe that HJ makes it a common practice, it would be too outrageous. I consider this to be a potential id theft.inna Gurary
