I made a rental car reservation with Hotwire.com on 9/8 at 12:15 am to take place on 9/22- 10/2 in St. Louis, MO. I received Alamo confirmation and Hotwire Itinerary. I was charged $219.61 from my debit account. At 2:00 pm on the same day (9/8) I realized I wasn't going to need the car, so I called to cancel the reservation, believing that it a consumer has a right to cancel within 24 hours. They rudely refused to discuss a refund or even a credit. Telling me that Alamo is already paid and have my reservations.

I called Alamo and they have no record of my reservation and told me I had to take it up with Hotwire, because they had the money and they wouldn't get paid until I picked up the car. How can this be legal to take your money and give you nothing for it? If I didn't give them enough notice I could understand, but it was only 14 hours since my purchase and I am not going to be receiving anything for the amount of $219.61. I feel this is poor customer service to basically take money for services not rendered.
