Traveling & Tourism

My husband and I attended a seminar introducing a new way to travel. The seminar was held in Pelham, AL area and was promised a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Once the seminar was done the sales person came out really pushing us to purchase the travel club membership. At first we were very hesitate, twice we told them at this time we were not interested. Then 2 other sales personnel came to our table and just about shoved the sales pitch down our throats. They even told us that they would exchange the 2 day trip to TN with an 8 day 7 night cruise of our choice.

We still stated that we could not purchase the trip because hy husband had been laid off and I was retired. Then once again another higher up, management, came out and gave us another gift. This gift was free meals every 30 days at a resturant of our choice for a year.

Well to make a long story short, this free seminar cost us over $6,000, plus an annual fee of $149. The free meal monthly for a year cost us $35, the cruise cost us $99, plus an unknown amount of taxes, port fees, transportation, etc.

Well we sent in the $99 for the cruise and was notified 2 months later that the time had expired. The meals are only a small amount off the normal price and none of the resturants are in our area.

This whole experience has left us at a loss on what to do. We really are scared to book a travel for fear we will get some kind of dump once we arrive at our destination.
