Booked a business trip in first class. Three cities in 4 days for $2700. Clicked OK to reserve. Expedia sends a red flag note saying they have a change and click here to see it. Change is they will now only charge me $1050. There is a box that says "tell me why" and proceeds to tell me they make great deals and pass savings to customers. I am still skeptic and go back to be sure this is for all three legs and first class. My business partner looks at the screen too and confirms it. So I click OK. Two days later I arrive home to my computer and see the flight is coach, not first class. Expedia won't own up to the mistake. Tells me to call united if I want to pay for an upgrade. United tells me to call Expedia back - Can't get anywhere and Expedia tells me I can call the individual airlines to cancel but it will cost $150 per change. Too late to get other seats on other carriers. I am screwed - 6'4" stuck in a middle seat on first leg for 4 hours, second flight for 2.5 hours and third leg for 3.5 hours. They made the mistake of offering the first class seats and could not fulfill it for the price. It's crazy since I was willing to pay the full price to start with. Why would they screw up a customer who flies first class and pays the fare. It's not my first problem with Expedia but it will be my last.
