Qatar Airlines
Outrageous overweight charges applied only in the inbound flight

Traveling & Tourism

I have a complaint regarding my experience with Qatar airlines. On December 11, I was flying back from Kuala Lumpur to London, via Doha (flights: QR 621 and QR17), I was informed at the check in counter that I had exceeded baggage allowance for Business Cabin. I immediately mentioned I was carrying the same 2 pieces, which I checked in at London Heathrow. My trip to Malaysia was on business, i didnt accumulate more luggage, in fact when I left London my 2 suitcases weighted 40kgs total, when heading back, as I left some documents in MY, same 2 pieces weighted 38 kgs. If the allowance is 30kg for Business Class, why did nobody mention it at LHR check in counter? I could have handled it there by sending one piece of luggage back to my office. My first thought was it was a mistake done by the staff in London. Apparently, it wasn't. They deliberately allow extra baggage allowance in some markets to maintain competitiveness (i was informed about it after sending a complaint to Qatar's customer service department). This is a totalscam, they waive extra baggage in some airports, only to charge passengers on their way back. This is not related to competitiveness, but to profits derived from excess baggage charges.
