I had a lady "Amber" claiming to be from Universal Studios Orlando in Florida call claiming we'd won a trip, accomodations, and passes to Universal Studios Orlando. She gave an endless account of what we'd won, including 3 days, 4 nights accomodations with an oceanfront view in our hotel room just outside the gates — that's where I'd figured it to be a scam. Anyone who's been to Orlando knows that any water outside of a lake is a 45 min drive at best.
They went on to say that we had a cruise, 7 nights in Daytona, etc.in our package and that it was good for a year, but could be flexible. My wife and I played along with the game and we were soon passed off to another agent, "Stacey" who reassured us of all that we'd won and alll that was required was a $249 / adult ($498) processing fee. She said that we could use our Visa which started with a "4" - every Visa starts with a "4" - to pay for it. Eerily, she already had our mailing address and birthdate and stated we'd registered for this contest some time ago and we were one of the lucky 3% to be selected. When I said that I don't give out credit card info over the phone, they repeated the credentials stating where they were from and all that I stood to gain. I said they would have to find alternative means of doing any credit transaction and she became very frustrated and could not understand why I wouldn't want to give her my information. That's when I hung up.
