Days Inn Council Charged me for 3 rooms, 1 night because rooms not cancelled before 24 hour cancel policy

Do not make any reservations at this hotel for any reason. This hotel was booked for only one night, which was supposed to be for a family get-together. Due to a heavy snowstorm in SD on the day we were to travel to hotel, we were unable to fulfill our reservations. Hotel required 24 hours notice to cancel reservation. Since we did not arrive, we were considered no call, no shows and each room was charged to me in the amount of $51.48 for a total of $154.44.

Contacted the hotel to request charges reversed from credit card and the manager was extremely rude and would not under any circumstances refund any money. Basically, the weather prevented us from showing up, but it doesn't mean that she had to give a refund because we didn't get there. Her attitude was that it was our problem.

As a former travel agent pre-911, I can tell you that this hotel double dipped. They charged us for not arriving and resold the very same rooms to other travelers trapped in the area because of the weather. This is not an uncommon practice. Hotels do this on a regular basis, even if you have reservations, they will tell you that your travel agent or whoever booked your room cancelled it, leaving you the traveler with no other option but to pay a higher price, or find another place to stay.

Than, if you try to dispute the charges, they avoid you all together and hope that it will get shoved out of sight and they won't have to deal with it. They are unwilling to give you a written reason why your dispute is not being taken care of, but it didn't take them very long to send you your invoice with your credit card charged. That's the only written acknowledgement you will get.

Word to the wise, stay away from Days Inn all together. They are not as name friendly as their image tries to convey. It's just a name, but not one worth receiving any more money from another traveler.
