Free trip and magazine scam

Traveling & Tourism

I received a letter from this company today stating they had been trying to reach me and I was to call the toll free number to hear the good news. The letter I got looked somewhat unprofessional and had several typos and grammatical errors. I was somewhat interested so I called the number and was greeted by Megan. She was very friendly and polite. She informed me I had one a hotel stay for 3 days and 2 nights. I was like really! WHY? I didn;t enter a drawing. She said they got my information from my mastercard. Hmmm... Sounds interesting. She then proceeded to tell me that I could have some magazine subscriptions for free fro the first couple months and I would only have to pay for a few of them. I passed. She then told me that I was going to be entered into a one million dollar cash drawing. She was very polite and asked me what I would do if I won a million dollars. Then she offered me a his and hers watch set and some other stuff. I passed on those aswell. So far this call sounded ligit. She than said she would have to transfer me to her supervisor to set up the delivery of my reward packet. I was like ok whatever. I was on hold for about 30 seconds. Then Sharon, the supervisor answered. She first asked me how my day was going and such. Then she wanted me to giver her my address so I could have the packet mailed out. I thought this was kind of weird since they mailed me the letter so don't they already have my address? I gave it to her anyways. Then she informed me there was a $1.00 processing fee to mail out the packet. Hmm... Sounds interesting. Then she had to connect me via conference call to a validation service. I had to answer yes/no questions and then state my name and the date. I thought that was very weird but reluctantly I did it anyway. Then she asked for my credit card account number and expiration date. LIKE AN IDIOT I gave it to her. After all this she gave me a confirmation number and stated I would get my packet in the mail. She said it was valid for 14 months at over 90 different resorts and hotels. I was like ok sounds good. Thank you!

Then after examining the letter closer I started to wonder. So I googled the address and the building at the address said CRM on the side of it. Ok, so this company is ligit. Then I started to read the websites that came up and started to read the complaints. I WAS PISSED!!! This was a scam. I immediatley called my bank and cancelled my card. I will have to wait and see what comes in the mail...

In summary do not believe this company. I'm sorry I did.
