Sun Country Travel, Corporate Travel Plus
Ip-off scam dishonest

Traveling & Tourism

Sun Country Travel or Corporate Travel Plus or Grand Vacations Club or Mini Vacations or MVI or whatever name they are using is an out and out travel scam. We were lured to their presentation with the promise of a "free" cruise or "free" vacation just for attending.

We attended and listened to their presentation and decided to purchase a membership in the travel club. We have attended our share of time-share presentations over the years and thought we could smell a scam if there was one. We were wrong. These guys are good at what they do.

I should have realized something was wrong when I tried to access their web site and got a site for a travel agency in Canada and they had a warning sign on their web page that they "are not the Sun Country from Texas which is selling a scam". I called the office that took our money and told them what I had seen and was reassured that all was ok and they gave me the "real" web address.

I tried that and was auto redirected to another web site for Corporate Travel Plus but that site was under construction and still is. Our "free" cruise cost was up to $500 before I even added air fare and couldn't be use during peak time. All of the other "free" things we were given also have a lot of fine print that we weren't shown before the purchase.

Most of the incentives are unusable unless you would be able to take 9 vacations all in one year because they all expire after that.

I then tried to use Sun Country to book airline tickets for two around New Years. It only took about 5 phone calls to get the booking done for exactly the same fare as I could have purchased on the internet from Orbitz or Expedia with only one short visit to their site and a few mouse clicks.

E were not totally surprised shortly after that that the local Minneapolis TV Channel 4 WCCO did an expose piece on this same Sun Country and showed them for what they really are.

I sent a letter to Sun Country's office in Carrollton Texas explaining our disappointment and requesting a refund of our money and that they cancel our membership. Of course, the answer is - no. Make your own conclusions but I would recommend that you stay away from these people.
