Most hotels in Northeastern Pa will quote a price and charge a much higher price upon leaving, using the excuse that the rates change according to whatever special events occur in the surrounding Pocono Mt area (an area that covers roughly 150 miles around the NE Pa area). These hotels never alert you to this beforehand, nor does it matter that you check in under a different rate. Last year, I a 60 yr old, was charged double the rates 2 nites because of some stupid auto race in some dinky town 65 miles away!!! This was my experience in 2 large chains—Marriott and Comfort Suites! I travel frequently and use these chains and have never experienced this in any other part of the country!!! Guess NEPA is a special tourist vacation destination.
