Travelers Advantage AKA Great Fun, Trilegient Corporation
Solutions in Protecting Yourself Before It's Too Late

Traveling & Tourism

I booked a room with Days Inn recently, and received an "instant message" from someone asking if I was interested in a trial for both Great Fun and Travelers Advantage, to receive a rebate on the room I had booked. I agreed to the trial, hoping to get the $30 rebate, and simply cancel the trial. Of course it's never this easy.

I didn't receive anything for a while, except for a Great Fun membership card in my name. I figured it'd be best to cancel before I received any membership charges, so I called, and I was tempted with more promises of rebates and coupons, in addition to an extended trial period. I agreed to this, thinking maybe I'd be able to use some of the coupons/rebates, should I receive them. I did receive them finally, but called to cancel ahead of time just in case.

I called Great Fun, and after another extended trial period offer, managed to cancel, and receive a "cancellation confirmation number." Then, while looking for the website for Travelers Advantage in order to get their phone number, I found this website, Usa Consumer Complaints.com, and all of the complaints that have been filed so far, and decided to call my bank (Wells Fargo).

I explained the situation to my banker and asked for his advice on what to do, as I was worried about receiving these fraudulent charges that I've heard Trilegient likes to make. His advice was to simply cancel my current debit card, and switch to a new card and account number. I believed that it would be the best way to go about it; avoid the charges completely, as opposed to hoping that my bank would be able to take care of any future charges, if they happened to occur.

At this point, I will continue to monitor my bank accounts to see if they have used any other information of mine to continue to make any charges, but I don't see that happening, as I believe they only have my old debit card number. I will update this accordingly with whatever I find or don't find.

So I advise all of you who are caught in this program to, if possible, cancel any cards/accounts that you have associated with the Travelers Advantage or Great Fun programs, at the least to avoid any future charges from these thieves. As for those who have already had your money taken by this company, I hope for the best for you, and for justice against this company, as I have heard that there are many complaints in Connecticut against them, as well as class-action lawsuits (however I have yet to confirm this).

Thank you all for reading.
