Cancun/Cozumel Royal Holiday Culb a 10 year nightmare! Cancun internet

My wife and I got suckered into buying a timeshare with Royal Holiday Club is Cancun. Their 90 minute presentation turned into an all day event consisting of, we now know, the greatest number of lies and false promises we've ever encountered! Virtually everything they promised was a lie. They said we had 30 days to cancel if we were dissatisfied with "the package" we would recieve in the mail. "the package" didn't arrive for 6 weeks by which time it was past the day to cancel. Numerous calls wanting to know what happened to our "package" were answered with lies that it was no problem, we would have 30 days after getting it. NOT TRUE!

Upon reviewing "the package", which was totally different from all the promises they gave at the presentation, we tried to cancel and get our money back. TOO LATE! 30 days had passed since the presentation, not the actual reciept of the package...
So we suffered with the program for 5 years only once managing to get a reservation and use our time. We it in writing from Royal Holiday Club that at the end of 5 years we would get a 50% refund if we were not satisfied. We wrote and asked for the refund and to cancel our membership. No response. We called many may times to Cancun to try to cancel and get our refund. Each time we were told it was in process.

This went on for months until we finally got a letter from them. It was the bill for the next years membership fee! We sent it back with copies of the refund paperwork and history of our attempts to cancel our membership. A month later we got a call from a collection agency demanding our membership fees! We told them what was happening and sent them copies of everything we had sent to RHC. They backed off and assured us we wouldn't be bothered again and they would try to help us get our refund. No luck.

This same story was repeated every few months FOR 10 YEARS!!! We are not exagerating about this. We tried everything to get us cancelled and get a refund. Certified letters were never answered. Just year after year of nastier and nastier demands for the membership fees as they accumulated. And so many calls from collection agencies we lost count.

I don't know why, but the calls and mailings finally stopped after 10 years. It must be some kind of limit they have legally? I don't know.
BEWARE OF ROYAL HOLIDAY CLUB AND ALL TIME SHARES!!!

Now when we pass a kiosk and someone tries to stop us and offer free passes or hotels or whatever. We practically shout at them that we don't want a time share and they should be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off! There may be legitimate time shares out there but we're not willing to ever risk it again.
