Global Timeshares / Vacation Property Network
Global Timeshares, Vacation Property Network Takes $1350 upfront for timeshare sale, refuses to present anything in writing

Traveling & Tourism

We were called today by a man who introduced himself as Greg from a timeshare resale company The phone showed a Florida caller ID. He asked if we were willing to sell our timeshare for $13,500. I told him we'd love to sell, but that we had been scammed by another Florida timeshare seller and weren't interested. He said his company operated differentlly from other pay-up-front companies.

He said he would secure a buyer and a price before collecting anything from us. We would then pay a $1350 "enrollment fee" to authorize him to sell it for us. He said his company's clients are folks who have been to timeshare presentations and who could not qualify for the resort prices. He said they help buyers get financing after finding properties at discount prices for them. He said he believed he had an interested buyer and would call us back in 45 minutes, one way or the other.

He called back and said he had negotiated $13,400 for our timeshare. He wanted us to give him our credit card info over the phone so he could go ahead with the sale. We told him we needed something in writing first and more information to verify the legitimacy of his company. He acted insulted that we didn't trust him. He dodged our request for information or paperwork, asking if we were trying to get out of the sale. My husband said he'd love to sell, but he would not hand over $1350 without verifying the legitimacy of this proposal, and he added, "I'd be a fool to give you my credit card without checking you out, and you don't want to do business with a fool do you?"

Greg kept trying to make us feel bad for questioning him. After about 25 minutes of arguing with him, he gave the name of his company as Global Timeshares of the Vacation Property Network in Brockton, MA. He said he could not fax us any contracts or information without the $1350 as it would take time to draw up the paperwork and it would be expensive to pay his secretary to write it up. I don't know of any legitimate company who would not have contracts on hand for potential clients to review before paying.

Once Greg gave us the name of the company, we Googled it and usacomplaints. Coms were first on the list. THANKS to you who reported having given them $1350 and getting only lies in return. We really want to sell our timeshare, but we weren't ripped off this time.
