Microtel Inn - Pigeon Forge, TN
Microtel Inn is a ripoff dirty filthy pig pen hotel motel

Traveling & Tourism

On Tuesday, September 3rd I had reservations for two rooms at the Microtel 202 Emert Street Pigeon Forge TN 37863.

I located Microtel on the Internet and saw the beautiful pictures of the front of the hotel & the reviews from the web site. Since Microtel is a fairly new motel chain, I thought this motel was brand new. With the pictures plus the review from the Internet, Microtel made this look like an extremely nice place to stay. Here was the review from their web sites. —

The Microtel Inn Pigeon Forge is a tourist-class hotel located 12 miles from the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport. This hotel is adjacent to Dollywood, Splash country and Dixie Stampede. The hotel is also conveniently located off the main parkway and is near major outlet malls as well as recreational areas. The Microtel is a unique chain of hotels; every one of
their properties is brand new. That's why everything at Microtel is new, not a conversion of an old building from another brand. Which means no matter where you go, each property is consistent in construction and design, assuring you a uniform product.

As what is wrote in the above paragraph compared to what I am getting ready to tell you, the paragraph is totally misleading & extremely false from what this motel actually is. (By the way, attached to this email are pictures of the Microtel we stayed at. I will explain farther down in the email the different pictures.)

Upon check in, the front of the hotel looked just like the picture I saw on the Internet. The pool in the front of the hotel looked so clean & refreshing. I just knew this would be the place to stay. After checking in
& then gone for the day running around to area attractions, we decided to unload the car. I had family that drove up from Florida & since I live in North Carolina, I know my way around Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, so I wanted to make this trip special for my family. (That's why I selected the Microtel).

I drove to the side of the motel because our rooms were the closest to this particular door. As you can see on picture # 5, the pavement was buckled up & the door was missing paint on over half the door. OK, the maintenance man has not done his job, big deal. When walking up to the side entrance, I saw the card key slot to slide your card key to open the door. I could not figure out why it was located there since this did NOT work & the door is
left unlock 24/7.

When you open the door, the rugs were horribly stained, as you will see in picture # 6. The door closed behind me and the inside of the door looked dirty, stained, & missing paint as shown in picture # 13. The inside of the hallway smelled awful! I looked over to the housekeeping cart & inside of it was loose trash that stunk (as pictured in picture # 4).

By then I was gagging because the smell was awful. I continued on to my room. The inside hallway was somewhat of a musty mildew smell, but not as bad as my room. The rugs were filthy dirty. After walking on them with just socks on, the bottoms of my socks were black. I took pictures of the carpet to show you how bad they are as pictured in picture numbers 7,8, and 11.in picture number 11, it shows the inside of the closet compared to the front of the closet.

The wall along the baseboard was completely warped (as
pictured in picture # 12), so with this finding along with the musty smell in both rooms gave me the idea that this motel may have been flooded at one time or another & the maintenance on the motel was never taken care of.
When looking up towards the window, I noticed a window seat cushion that was stained very badly. This is pictured in picture numbers 9 & 10.

When entering in the bathroom, the floor was all banged up as pictured in # 3, the caulking was yellowish in color & pealing from the counter top corners as pictured in # 1 & 2, and the shower head was moldy around the
water holes of the head (not pictured).

At this time it was very late in the evening & since I used to be a motel manager several years back, I knew that the only thing the front desk would be able to do is relocate us & all of our property to a different room. After experiencing the filth from the hallway, I felt that there was no hope from a different room either, so I went on to bed.

Even though the motel had plenty of hot water & had an excellent air conditioner, I was very disappointed in this motel. I paid $49.95 plus tax per room per night when the other area motels were advertising $29.95 plus
tax. I cannot understand why the higher charge for my rooms when it is in such horrible shape to the point that I wouldn't think it would pass health code. (And to think this motel has been issued rewards from AAA motor club) I was extremely embarrassed to subject my relatives to such a horrible experience as this motel is in.

Again, I was very disappointed in this motel & I really feel uncomfortable about staying in any other Microtel because of this. I feel that I was misled from the web site & ripped off because of the high pricing compared to the other area motels.in order to cancel my reservations, I was required to give 72 hours prior notification, or I would have still had to pay for the rooms. If it wasn't for the fact that the motel happened to have my credit card on file, I would have checked out & moved on to a better maintained motel. I feel that I am owed compensation for the miserable time I had staying at this motel & I will persist until this matter is resolved.
