Junk fax, fraudulent advertising! Ripoff

Traveling & Tourism

I received a fax through my fax machine at work stating a great vacation deal to Cancun for only $321.00 a person. I believed this fax to have come from our corporate office as it was addressed to All Corporate Employees from our Human Resources Department. It sounded like a great deal so I quickly dialed the number and was told that there were only a few packages left and I had better act quickly! The payment was needed immediately to secure my package so I gave the woman my credit card number over the phone and within a day my credit card had been charged a total of $774.00. On April 12th I called the company Travelcomm to set up reservation dates and plan my trip. I spoke to a man named Michael who told me I needed to fax over a copy of my credit card statement showing proof that the trip had been paid for. I was told that I would receive a call back as soon as he received the fax. Five days later I had still not received a phone call so I decided to call back. This time I talked a woman who told me Michael was not in but the fax was on his desk and he would call me as soon as possible. I then asked if anyone else would be able to assist me and she became very rude and told me I was assigned to Michael and no one else there could deal with me. As I got off the phone something did not seem right. So I decided to call back again. This time the same woman answered and I was yelled at for calling back and not waiting for Michael. She transferred me to a supervisor who then told me she could not find my fax on Michael's desk (even though the other woman supposedly had just seen it) and told me she would call me back in ten minutes after she found it. That was April 17th and three days later I have still not received a phone call.

These people are rude, unprofessional and will not return my phone calls all the while holding my $774.00. I decided to research this company and found out the truth about who they really are. This company sends out junk faxes to thousands of different companies offering great deals on trips to Cancun, Florida etc. It sounds like the perfect trip until they tack on hundreds of dollars in hidden fees and taxes. When you call to make reservations they tell you the dates and hotels you want to use are not available but they will gladly let you pay hundreds of extra dollars to try and find what you are looking for. Other consumers who have used this company report booking a 5 star hotel but getting there and realizing windows and doors of this hotel are boarded up. The fax that I received stated I would be allowed unlimited non motor water sports and all meals and drinks were included in the package. While after giving this company my credit card information and being charged I received another letter stating Your premium accommodations will be provided to you in the Cancun resort area (and where applicable) will include all of your meals, snacks and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Depending on the resort, non-motorized water sports are also available at no charge.in addition this letter also states they must receive a check or payment of $99.00 a person for Hotel Taxes for international travel. Peak season and holiday fees also apply during certain times of the year. (Fees that were not brought to my attention until after they had charged my credit card).

As I talked to them they represented themselves as Travelcomm but as I understand they have used at least eight different names. Some of these names include Canadian Travel, Patriot Travel, and Mexico Marketing (which appears on my credit card statement). I have read numerous consumer complaints stating that Travelcomm has tried to deny their affiliation to Mexico Marketing or the other company names I have listed. As with the letter that I received they state they are the vacation fulfillment company for the vacations that you have recently purchased. This company has an unsatisfactory record with the Better Business Bureau and has also been in trouble with the state of Florida and the Federal government. Both the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission have issued official citations against the company for violating the Federal Communications Act, which governs unsolicited advertisements.

Buyer beware!!! These people will scam you out of hundreds of dollars!!!
