Please! Help me to get my money back from Ramada Plaza Resorts

Traveling & Tourism

Hello, needless to say, I am one of those victims who got sucked in to the Ramada Plaza Resorts package. Back in late April I filled out a draw at a show for a vacation deal package, and a week later, a customer rep called me and notified me that I am the lucky one to receive this great deal from their Resorts. After 2 hours of phone conversation, I paid $399 USD (they also charged me $21 USD on top of the $399 for I don't know what was it for). Since the customer rep had some heavy accent and she spoke very fast, and my first language is not English, I am sure I have missed a lot of "important messages". 2 days later, I really don't feel comfortable about this package and I try to call to cancel it, they refused to do so and convinced me that they can do partial refund, which they credited $199 USD back to my Visa.

I have been holding on this package for a year, don't know what to do with it. On March 30, a customer service rep from Ramada Resorts called me and said my balance is due, and my first response was what balance. I was than told that I have only paid part of the deposit and the rest of the balance is due, and I have to pay $898 USD now, or else they are going to contact a credit agency to collect the money from me. I argued with the rep for a while and the rep was rude and raised her voice at me, and keep telling me that all my previous conversation with them were recorded and I have authorized them to do this to do that...

I said I received no invoice regarding the balance, and the rep said they don't send any invoice/statements because they deal with large volume of customers every day and there is no way they send invoice/statements to every single customer. Long story short, I was really overwhelmed by the conversation, and just want to get rid of them, I paid the $898 USD they asked for, and the package is extended to April 29. While telling them my Visa card number, they asked me for the last 3 numbers on my Visa card, the 3 numbers that credit card companies keep telling people not to give out. I refused, and they said they cannot process the payment. I finally surrendered and told her the numbers, and in a very unprofessional manner, she yelled out to the other person telling my 3 security numbers of my Visa card.

I feel very vulnerable about this entire situation/scam. I feel that except for blaming myself not being assertive enough to say no to the package in the beginning, I feel that there is nothing I can do to get my money back. I really want to get 100% refund because I am trying very hard to save money for a mortgage and since I can never see myself going to this trip, and I am scare to go too after reading all these negative comments about the Resorts, I really really really would like to get a full refund (1,119 USD).

However, I am in Toronto, Canada and I am not familiar to the laws in the states (or Florida), I need help in filing a refund. Can you please tell me what I need to do?

Thank you very much for your help in advance, need your help desperately!
