Orbitz
Bait & Switch advertising fares that are not available ripoff

Traveling & Tourism

Orbitz and Travelocity (probably other travel sites as well) are offering fares that are not available. Obviously this is in order to give prospective customers the feeling that they are able to get "incredible deals" from these websites. Once you actually try to book it, you will get a message like "sorry, this fare has been sold out".

I called them up and their excuse is "the fare was not accepted by the airline"- so what they want you to believe is that there is someone sitting at the "other end of the computer" thinking about the question wether to accept or not.

Bulls*t This is the 3rd millenium where computers do their job within a few seconds. Computers are also linked and it does not make sense if these clowns want to make you believe that it takes "some time" until their website finds out that a fare is no longer available.

I have seen a certain fare over more than a week and each time when I tried to get it, it was "unavailable".
