Doubletree Hotel
Disgusting And Antiquated And Overpriced ripoff

I checked into this hotel two weeks ago when we suffered a power outage due to the extreme heat. I reserved a room at $189.00 a night. When I got there, the lobby smelled like raw sewage as a toilet in the men's room had overflowed. I tried to overlook the fact that the lobby smelled atrocious and proceeded to check into my room.
When I got off the elevator on the fourth floor, the smell of mildew greeted me. It smelled like the carpet had been wet and left a very strong musty odor. I tried to use my card key on the antiquated door device and it woudn't work. A bellman was summoned to assist me and his master key for the room would not work. He started literally running and ramming himself into the door to try and open it. Once we got inside the room, the a/c did not work until he physically beat that to start it. I was fed up by this time and checked out after only being there for 10 minutes. I refused to pay $189 to stay in a hotel that is supposed to be part of the Hilton chain with that many things wrong.
I also understand that this hotel was/is used to house a number of homeless people (they reportedly get some sort of government assistance for this). While there is nothing wrong with this, they still have no business charging $189 to basically stay in a homeless shelter with no a/c or working door locks.
