Traveling & Tourism

We paid all the money for the trip package promising we would be staying at 4/5 star resort. We booked our first trip at Chillingsworth Resort which APPEARED nice on the website. The website reported that it was close to many attractions and within walking distance. Our room was to include a bbq grill and a small kitchen. We planned our trip to include cooking out and eating some in our room to save money to be able to go to all the attractions.

We got off the plane and took a very, very, very long taxi ride (also very expensive) to a run down effeciency apartment complex in the middle of nowhere. The closest market was 1 1/4 mile away, not within walking distance. When we went in to register, the apartment clerk asked us to view the room before we registered.

As she took us to what was to be our effeciency apartment the whole place smelled of clorox or some sort of bleach. There were water hoses running with water along the corridors. We walked into a run down, old, old effeciency apartment. Not a resort. The only air conditioner was in the living room. The shower curtain was torn is a few places, not hanging on the hooks. The screen on the bedroom window was sooooo filthy you couldn't even see through it. The BBQ Grill was by the pool and was for everyone staying there, there wasn't one for each room. The pool was smaller than my next door neighbors.

As you can guess, we chose not to stay there. Now we know why they wanted us to view the room before we registered.

We immediately called for a taxi to come and get us out of there, you couldn't walk anywhere. As we waited I called the 1-800 given to call for emergency and problems. There was no answer. I left message after message over the weekend.

We ended up going to a beautiful resort, Our Lucaya, which we had to pay $3,500 for the entire out of our own pocket in order to get one of the last rooms. As we stayed the rest of the week, we kept trying to reach someone at the 1-800 hotline and at All Points Accomodations with no response. We couldn't leave because our airline tickets could not be changed without a $200 charge each. So we stayed at the fabulous Our Lucaya on our own money.

When back to the states, we attempted to resolve the issue with no assistance and nothing but excuses from everyone including Chip.

We eventually had to file a report with the Florida Attorney General's Office. Since we charged the original package of $5,000 on two credit cards. We were only able to obtain 2,500 from one credit card company who had problems with the same company. The other credit card company would not refund our money since it was more than 90 days. So we were out 2,500.00.

Buyer Beware. When looking much, much closer at the other accomadations provided by this company they were very, very cheap place, not 4/5 star accomodations. Many didn't even have air conditioning.

This company goes by many, many names and their offices skip around the country.
