Expedia
Not full refund on airline cancellation ripoff

Traveling & Tourism

In February of I booked a flight and hotel to New York through Expedia.com. We were supposed to come back on the 12th of February but NYC was hammered by the biggest blizzard on record, and almost all the flights out of NYC were cancelled that day.

I called Expedia to get a new flight but they could not get new flights because the air line reservation system was jammed trying to accomodate all the stranded passengers. They told me to call the airlines myself to get a flight back which is what we did. We found a Delta flight back on the 13th which we had to pay out of pocket because the original return flight was with continental.

To make a long story short, I spent hours on the phone at my expense to find a flight back. Expedia was of no help whatsoever.

I paid for an extra night in NYC, no help from any airline or Expedia.

I was refunded $150 for the 2 return tickets but had to pay $410 for the new tickets. Loss=$260

Total loss of booking through expedia was over $500 not including cell phone time and personal time away from work trying to get new flights.

I learned from this experience: NEVER, NEVER book through Expedia. Go to the airlines directly.
