Beware of traveling to Houston TX: Their Toll Road authority mailed us notification of Toll Road violations that did not happen. The amount of the violation is 15 times the amount of the toll. The payment is due 1 month after the violation. If you do not pay by that time, the amount of the invoice doubles.

This is particularly onerous to tourists because they send you the Toll Violation Invoice and demand payment 30 days after the violation occurred.By this point, you are probably home from your trip and not in a position to appeal this bogus violation.
