It all started when I got hired on to a new company located in Tennessee. I contacted Allstar Fitness in Tacoma and asked them what information they would need in order to cancel my membership without any negative consequences. I had read our contract, which listed reasons it would make it ok to cancel without any fees. One of the reasons was if you have to relocate do to employment and there are no Allstar Fitness clubs in the area. The front desk person told me to mail a letter from TN, requesting my membership be canceled do to my new job and me relocating.
About three weeks after sending the letter, I received a call from Allstar Fitness. They told me my letter was not good enough, that I had to provide either a utility bill or a letter from my boss on company letter head. So, I had the owner of the company fax a letter to them on company letter head. I received a bill in the mail with a late fee attached. So, I contacted them, once again, and had to complete the whole process again because they say they didn't receive the letter.
Allstar Fitness is a ripoff. They make it extremely difficult to cancel, when it should be way easier when the reason is within contractual guidelines. The economy is really bad, right now, so when a customer is dealing with a new job and a huge move, the last thing they want to deal with is something of this nature for no warranted reason.
