Piss poor customer service ruined Christmas

My son placed an order with this company back in November. He ordered it for me for Christmas, knowing that I am a huge hockey fan. However, when the order wasn't here with Christmas approaching, he emailed the company, using their order status link. This was on December 17. He received no response. On December 19, he wrote again. Still no response. On December 24, he used one of their other links (General concerns). Again, he voiced his concerns about not receiving this in time for Christmas.

At this point, I told him I would call, which I did. I received an automated message saying that they were experiencing "techincal difficulties" and to try my call again later. On December 26, I did call again. Of course, I didn't get to speak to a person right away.instead, I had to listen to their recordings for several minutes.

When a person finally got on the phone, I was asked if I wanted to place an order. I explained how the order had already been placed, but never received. They asked for my phone number and last name. I was then told that there was no order for my name or number. I told him that i had an order number, but was told that an order number didn't prove anything. I was then told that since there was no order, the DVD wouldn't not be shipped out.

So far, my son hasn't been charged for the DVD, and hopefully he won't be. I think it's a shame that at this time of year, a company doesn't follow through with orders. Since my son had an order number, how can the company NOT have a record of the order being placed, and the order NOT being sent out?
