Ripoff Denied Cancellation

I was recently denied cancellation for a 3-year contract that I was scammed into. When I first signed up with the gym, I was told I could cancel anytime, no strings attached. Come to find out, I actually signed up to pay $37 for the next 36 months. When I spoke with a rep from Bally's 800 number, she said I could cancel if I went to the gym for the next 10 days, so I did. After that, I sent a letter explaining why I was cancelling and that I had talked to one of their representatives.

I am an unemployed, full-time college student and I do not have $37 a month to pay for a gym membership that I don't even use! Especially seeing how my tuition is $25,000 a year!
