I paid $200.00 and I was told that I have to $799 for class that I wasn't aware of

I respond to a ad in the AM paper seeking a job as pest control. I called the no. The person that assisted me mentioned that I have to pay $199.00 and I'll start work right away. So I came into the office and made my payment. Then I was told that the course unknowning to me cost $999.00. Why wasn't this this explained to me over the phone for me to think it over??? What made me more suspicous about the office, a ex coworker of mind works as pest control and he applied online under a web site for the position. He mentioned to me that he didn't had to pay no crazy money to make his way in the employment. The only thing he would have to pay for a license which it would be a year from now if I'm not mistaken. I'll like my $200.00 back, which it may be difficult to see that desire. And it hit me hard that no one shouldn't have to pay their way for employment unless your paying for a uniform or license.
