Sprint PCS
One Family plan with 4 lines counted as 4 plans for termination

I have had a family plan with Sprint PCS for several years. The last addition to it was a year ago (another line, bringing it to 4 lines). At that time they extended the plan for another 2 years. Recently (due to 2 older children living remotely), I removed 2 lines from that plan (so it now has 2 lines).
Sprint charged me $300 for this favor. Their argument is that although there is one agreement with Sprint, there is actually 4 plans, so each one has a termination fee. So to cancel one family plan would actually cost me 4x $150 - $600 to get out of the contract early. I checked my agreements, and in that there is only a mention of a single "plan", so the notion of multiple plans for one account was news to me.
The fact that there would be $150 per line fee per change was also not clear - the agreement simply refers to the fee being applied if one "changes to another plan" (which I argue that I did not do). Anyway, with Sprint issuing the bills according to their rules it is not clear that I have any recourse, but to pay the bill before they charge late fees on top of the penalty.
Of course this is the biggest incentive I have yet heard for not using Sprint, so perhaps the $300 is well spent as some advertising for others to not use Sprint.
